Verna Hoskins Baker passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 22, 2016 at the age of 90 at Hospice of Cincinnati. Born to John D. & Lizzie (Gay) Hoskins in Clay County, KY on Oct. 25, 1925.

Verna never met a stranger and there was always room at her table for any extra guests. She loved the Lord & her family. She was well-known in the West Chester area for her beautiful wedding cakes and she also worked with the Union Twp. Life Squad in West Chester, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Alfred R. Baker.

Beloved mother of Bertha (the late Eugene Morris) of West Chester, Ohio; Carol (Dennis) Glenn of Fairfield, Ohio; Robert (Farida) Baker of Costa Rica; the late Charles E. and Cecilia Baker of Dayton, Ohio; the late Alfred B. Benny (Marlyn) Baker of West Union, Ohio; Barbara (the late Les) Sellars of Hamilton, Ohio; Gennifer (Ron) Porter of Fairfield, Ohio; Penny K. Bohlander of Glendale, Ohio; Paul E. Baker; and Brenda Morgan-Brynnan of Gridley, California. Foster children: the late Wanda Cook-Jones and the late Mitchell Yopp. Grandmother of 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. Sister of Gracie Royse, Mae Baker, Cecil (Claudette) Hoskins, and Barbara Ellen Spurrier and the late Cleo, Alfred, Helen and Kathy Hoskins.

Visitation to be held at the Winton Road First Church of God, 6200 Winton Rd., Fairfield, Ohio 45014 on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m.

Visitation will also take place at Sizerock Baptist Church on Saturday, September 24, from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial to take place at Gay Cemetery. Hodapp Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
