Ethel L. Grubbs (nee Ripperger) passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014. Age 96. Resident of Harrison, Ohio. She was born February 3rd, 1918 to Joseph & Clara (nee Evans) Ripperger. She married Russell Grubbs and they had 5 children; Melvin "Chubby", Donna, Karen, JoAnn "Jo Momma", and Sandy.

Ethel is survived by her beloved children: Melvin "Chubby" Grubbs, Donna (Jim) Renck, Karen Holley, JoAnn "Jo Momma" (Ray) Wandsnider, & Sandy (the late Danny) Sykes; Loving grandchildren: Travis (Amy) Renck, Angie (Boonie) Neff, Ryian (Debbie) Grubbs, Kayla Wandsnider, Kevin (Jennifer) Collins, & Danielle Sykes; step-grandchildren: Margaret Holley, Jimmy (Dalana) Wandsnider, Jaime Wandsnider, & Andy Sykes; great grandchildren: Zach Renck, Hailey & Wyatt Renck, Kylee & Danica Neff, Austin, Savannah, Desiree, & Preston Grubbs, Blake Ruberg, & Mason Collins; step great grandchildren: Aleyah Piersawl, Jake & Sarah Holley, Brittney, Kylie, Emma, Cohl & Reese Wandsnider, Justin, Andrew, & Estella Wandsnider, Hayden & Riley Ellis, and Sheldon Sykes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Russell Grubbs; son-in-law Danny Sykes; and siblings Mary Westendorf, Bud Ripperger and Helen Harrell.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Harrison.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 5-8 PM at Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030.

Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, or Association of the Blind through the funeral home.
