Carole Jeanne Nolan (neé: Worrall), was welcomed into the loving embrace of her Savior on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Jeanne was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to her late parents, John J. Worrall and Helen Worrall (neé: Lamping). Many people are not aware of this, but she is preceded in death by five of her eight children. An explanation is needed here: Jeanne and Tom lived a joy-filled life in the midst of intense suffering by following God’s will as manifested through the teachings of the Catholic Church. As a result of their “obedience of faith” (Rom 16:26) and constant recourse to prayer, their family witnessed God clearly leading them and helping them which made a big impression on them.
In the words of one of her daughters, “My mother was staunchly pro-life which led to her openness to life and to the practice of heroic virtue. She was pregnant eight times, but only three of us survived. She had Rh negative blood and my father has Rh positive which resulted in my mother having a condition called Rh sensitivity. During her childbearing years there was no treatment available for this. All of this was happening in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council, at a time when there was so much confusion about the use of artificial birth control. In spite of this, she remained faithful to the Church’s official and constant teaching as articulated in Humanae Vitae. What made her obedience more difficult were several priests in her life who encouraged her to use the birth control pill. Her OBGYN did the same thing and, even worse, after her fifth pregnancy, tried to persuade her to have an abortion with each additional pregnancy, because every time another child was conceived, it put her life at risk. My mother would not even consider this as a possibility. She trusted in God’s Providence and remained open to life. At the end of her eighth pregnancy and the loss of her fifth baby, my parents were introduced to Natural Family Planning which was new at the time, and they successfully practiced this for the rest of their fertile years. Of the five children who died four of them died in utero and only one daughter, Patricia Nolan, was carried to term but only lived for one hour.
Jeanne is also preceded in death by her grandson, Brett Thomas. Left to mourn Jeanne’s passing is her beloved husband of 62 years, Deacon Thomas Nolan; her children, Kristy Moeves (Dave), Terri Thomas (Dan), and Tom Nolan, Jr.; her dear grandchildren, Nicole Grayson (Sam), Eryn Rice (Hunter), Tanner Moeves, Grant Moeves, Luke Moeves (Brooke), and Avery Moeves; her great-grandchildren, Cash Grayson, Bowie Grayson, and Indy Rice; and her brother, Joseph “José” Worrall.
Jeanne lived her life as a devout Catholic. She was very active in many ministries; she codirected the RCIA program at St. Timothy Church for many years and was a valued speaker for various pro-life functions. She helped prepare many children for their First Holy Communion. Jeanne was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, which included various Prayer Groups. She was always willing to assist her husband’s ministry as a Deacon in the Catholic Church, she often could be found visiting those in the hospital or a nursing home.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 10272 US 42, Union, Kentucky 41091, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
